Warhammer Day 2021

30th Oct 2021

This year's Warhammer Day kicked off by pointing people in the direction of a number of deals that have already started. They're offering two weeks free of Warhammer+ (or an extra two weeks if you're subscribing), there are two new miniatures to mark the day, and a number of reductions on boxes such as Warhammer AoS: Dominion, and one I've succumbed to and bought: Aeronautica Imperialis.

Warhammer Day 2021 Miniatures

23rd Oct 2021

For Warhammer Day 2021, Games Workshop are releasing two special miniatures. The first of these is a Primaris Lieutenant With Storm Shield - because we don't have many Primaris Lieutenants yet, so obviously it's about time we got another. This one looks similar in design to those from the Indomitus boxset, and is standing with one hand on his Storm Shield. As it happens, when the Warhammer Imperium partworks was released in the UK, I customised mine into a very similar pose!

WAAAGH! and Order

26th May 2021

Smoke rose from the charred and twisted remains of the once mighty space hulk that had crashed into the planet. Amongst the cloud of dust drifting across the surface, the mangled remains barely resembled the spacefaring wreck it had once been. Green-skinned bodies were strewn for miles around the impact crater and beyond like morbid confetti mangled around hulking metal shards. It was an almost sorrowful sight for Glumgasha. Not because they were dead, but because they’d not died in battle against each other or an enemy. This was the worst sort of death for an ork. It didn’t satisfy…

Warhammer Fest 2021 Day 5 - Warhammer 40,000

7th May 2021

During the lead-up to Warhammer Fest we saw a number of graphics hinting at what we'd get to see during this week. So, as long as these hints continued to be accurate then it meant for tonight's Warhammer 40,000 reveal night we'd be seeing some Orks. The closer the time got, the less subtle their hints got! Waaarghh! So, the night started off with an Ork-y video introducing the beast snaggas.

We saw a couple riding squigs and a couple of the other models back in April, but now we got to see the new savage army for starters. From the sounds of it there may be new additions in the near…

Warhammer Fest 2021 Day 2 - Warhammer 40,000

4th May 2021

For the second day of Warhammer Fest, the focus shifted to the grimdark future of Warhammer 40,000. After some great miniature reveals last night, they kicked off today's festivities with the narrative side with a return to the Warzone Charadon where more factions have joined the fray for Act II: The Book of Fire. Be'lakor being one of the biggest name-drops who will also have a full datasheet in this book. It looks like this will have a big focus on the forces of Chaos and how they will play within the confines of this campaign.

Kill Team Game 3 - Aerial Strike

16th Jan 2020

The Death Guard had overrun a war-torn Imperial city, and the Ultramarines kill team 'The Scions of Pluto' were dropping in to reclaim it. There were three objectives for the striking force, and with this Nurgle infestation it would not be enough to hold them - they would need to be burnt. Anything less than a decisive victory would be a win for the heretics. The Scions of Pluto would need to strike hard, and deployed into cover whilst the Death Guard clustered around each objective. Only Occius Oranius, sniper specialist stood alone - perched on the rooftop.

Kill Team at Warhammer World

7th Nov 2019

When I was young, I was a fan of the works of Steve Jackson and Ian Livingston - particularly their Fighting Fantasy series of adventure books. Over the years I'd collected the main fifty-odd books in the series, and had nice copies of Steve Jackson's Sourcery series as well as some others. This led me into one of their other ventures: Citadel Miniatures and Games Workshop (GWS), via an introduction to HeroQuest - a title that preceded the creation of those brands.

In the years that followed I started to paint models, and collect whatever GWS items I could get my hands on - mostly from…
