Warhammer Fest 2021 Day 2 - Warhammer 40,000

By David G. Paul · 4th May 2021 · 2 minutes read

For the second day of Warhammer Fest, the focus shifted to the grimdark future of Warhammer 40,000. After some great miniature reveals last night, they kicked off today's festivities with the narrative side with a return to the Warzone Charadon where more factions have joined the fray for Act II: The Book of Fire. Be'lakor being one of the biggest name-drops who will also have a full datasheet in this book. It looks like this will have a big focus on the forces of Chaos and how they will play within the confines of this campaign.

This was then followed by Adepta Sororitas: the Sisters of Battle. These were pretty much expected from the hints that were dropped during the lead-up to the event. Not only did we get to see the Codex for the Sisters, but we also saw a preview of some miniatures. There's a new character - a High Lord of Terra, Morvenn Vahl who is riding along in a Paragon Warsuit called Purgator Mirabilis, and is armed with a master-crafted bolt-rifle and a sword. This was the only new miniature for the night, but it's a good one!

A few previous reveals were also highlighted: Aestred Thurga (who we now found out comes with Agathae Dolan), the standard bearer of the Auto-tapestry of Emperor's Judgement, Celestian Sacresants, Paragon Warsuits, Dogmata, and a Castigator tank. The Palatine will also be available separately for the first time, having previously only been available in the Piety and Pain boxset. This was referred to as the 'full Adepta Sororitas revealed' suggesting there won't be any more miniature reveals for this force for the foreseeable future.

Of course there was the usual complaints in the stream chat that there were no Xenos reveals there - but the Adepta Sororitas have been in dire need of some new unit types for some time, and whilst they've now had two Codex releases in a relatively short time, they were one of the last in 8th Edition to get one.

There is then a new Battlezone Mechanicus: Charadon terrain kit which is a collection of all previous Battlezone Mechanicus terrain - if you've already got these then there's nothing new there; but it's a new way to get it.

To summarise, the new stuff from tonight were two books and a miniature Codex Adepta Sororitas, Battlezone Charadon Act II, and Morvenn Vahl. Friday will also be dedicated to Warhammer 40,000 so considering they felt there's enough to split over two nights, there may be something more substantial to come. Tomorrow night though is Black Library.
