Warhammer Fest 2021 Day 4 - Boxed Games

By David G. Paul · 6th May 2021 · 2 minutes read

For the first two days of Warhammer Fest we got the vampires we expected, and then got the new Sisters that were expected. Both of them had been teased during the lead-up through the advertising material that had been on social media. One of the other pieces said 'No Goliaths' so it seemed obvious that today would feature at least some Necromunda. From the roadmap we've seen previously we knew Q2 would be House of Faith, and we saw a preview of that before, and Q3 will be House of Shadows leaving Q4 as a mystery…

Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm kicked off the events with the revelation of the Deepkin warband we all knew was coming, but now it has a name: Elathains Soulraid. This one features three characters, and two animals - a fish and a crab. Every warband this season has been fun, and exciting so far, and it seems that now the final warband has been revealed, that won't change.

Sure enough, we then got to see into the House of Shadows, and the new miniatures for House Delaque. The new minis are Psy-Ghesit with Psychomancer's Harness, Psy-ghesit, a pair of Nacht-ghuls, Psychoteric Wyrm, and Piscean Spektor. These look very interesting, and they have already given people ideas for kitbashing with AdMech miniatures to create some very wild creations.

Next up wasn't really a boxed game, but a video game based on one, Necromunda: Hired Gun. We've seen it previously, and is out on June 1st for PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 5, and Xbox One.

Games Workshop then had fun trolling all the Adeptus Astartes fans out there, a level of trolling unlike any we've seen before. For a long time people have been begging for a plastic Thunderhawk Gunship. They revealed one with incredible detail. However, it was a new miniature one for Aeronautica Imperialis in a new edition titled "Wrath and Angels". Alongside the diminutive version of the much loved Thunderhawk Gunship, the Adeptus Astartes will also be getting Xiphon Interceptors and Storm Eagles. On the other side of the board, the Aeldari will be getting Nightwings and Phoenix Bombers.

Tomorrow is the second of the Warhammer 40,000 reveal days - could we get to see a plastic Thunderhawk Gunship for real? Or will we see Orcs, or maybe both? I think Saturday's big reveal will be either Age of Sigmar v3.0, or something to do with The Old World.
