Warhammer Fest 2021 Day 3 - Black Library
Today it's time to delve into the dark corridors of the Black Library to see what new stories will be told. This being the Black Library you'd expect this to be about books, and it was, mostly, but we also got to see some new miniatures. One of the most exciting announcements of the night for me was Gaunt's Ghosts - a new Astra Militarum squad based on the characters from Dan Abnett's longest running series, starting with First and Only. I think this will be great alongside other recent Astra Militarum releases such as Sgt. Ripper. This might just be the reveal of the week.
Then for the actual books there is The Vincula Insurgency by Dan Abnett, a prequel in the Gaunt's Ghost series which will have a massive collectors editions filled with goodies to keep even the most magpie-like amongst us busy. There is also a Sabbat War reference book with further extras, and an anthology collection - Sabbat War. Again this features Gaunt's Ghosts with stories by Dan Abnett, Graham McNeill (who you'll know from 4th Company fame), John French, Matthew Farrer, and Rachel Harrison.
Other books announced were:
- Urdesh: The Serpent and the Saint by Matthew Farrer
- The Twice-Dead King: Ruin by Nate Crowley
- Volpone Glory: A Bluebloods Novel by Nick Kyme
- Siege of Terra: Warhawk by Chris Wraight
- Traitor Rock: A Minka Lesk Novel by Justin D Hill
- Steel Tread
Under their Warhammer Crime banner they've got the following on their way:
- Broken City anthology
- Sanction & Sin anthology
- Grim Repast: A Quillon Drask Novel by Marc Collins
Tomorrow, the festivities will move on to 'Boxed Games' which suggests the likes of Necromunda, Blood Bowl, and Adeptus Titanicus.
