Warhammer Fest 2021 Day 1 - Age of Sigmar
Today is the start of Warhammer Fest 2021, the first time it's been virtual due to COVID restrictions on gatherings and events. To kick off the week-long Warhammer celebrations, they've started with Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. It all kicked off with the revelation of the 'Conquerors of Undeath' miniatures - the remainder of the Soulblight forces we hadn't yet seen. We've been expecting more vampires since the most recent releases and reveals, and sure enough, Games Workshop have delivered. Death has never looked so good.
Conquerors of Undeath features loads of new characters such as Belladama Vyrkos, and Radukar the Beast, and plenty of dire wolf action. THESE are the undead so many of us have been wanting to see since the End Times, and the start of Age of Sigmar.
This was then followed by a new mobile game, Warhammer - Age of Sigmar: Soul Arena. This is a new auto-battler game that they said would be available on multiple platforms. It'll be filled with microtransactions though, so one that I'll personally pass on. They then moved swiftly on to the reveal of the next chapter of the epic Broken Realms narrative titled: Kragnos. After the introduction video we got to see some of the recent reveals again, such as the new Lord Kroak, and then finally saw the big reveal, Kragnos himself.
Earthquakes are on their way, and this new god-level character can be used in ANY destruction army. He's got a massive 18 Wounds, and a 2+ Save. It's filled with many small details that look like it will make this another fun 'miniature' (I use that term loosely here) to paint. It is this book that concludes the Broken Realms storyline, and Lord Kroak (a character that survived the End Times) will play a big part in this final chapter. The end of this storyline does of course bring with it questions of whether an Age of Sigmar 3.0 will be announced soon - something that people have been starting to expect for a while now. With this storyline over it feels like the right time.
Tomorrow Warhammer Fest 2021 continues with Warhammer 40,000 reveals - which will most likely include some new Adepta Sororitas.
