HeroQuest - The Mage of the Mirror and the Rogue Heir of Elethorn

By David G. Paul · 4th Aug 2022 · 2 minutes read

After HeroQuest was updated and released around the time of the pandemic, I never expected it to keep on going. I thought it was a 'one and done'. However, when I caught sight of the Frozen Horror expansion I found that I'd already missed a small release which had been used to test the waters. The demand for that has been massive, and if the most recent news is anything to go by, it sounds like pre-orders for The Frozen Horror have been a success as well. Avalon Hill have announced two new releases!

The first of these is a character release called Rogue Heir of Elethorn which includes male and female miniatures for a Rogue character. This pack also includes 12 game cards with abilities unique to this set.

The latest figure in the HeroQuest Hero Collection is a nimble skirmisher who is deadly with small blades. Armed with a trusty bandolier, the Rogue can combat Zargon’s deadly minions from a safe distance. However, to maintain their quickness the Rogue is unable to wear metal armor, making close encounters even more dangerous.

The second release is The Mage of the Mirror which is the second of the two quest packs that were originally released in North America for the original. With this quest pack on it's way, this only leaves three packs that have not yet been updated for the modern version:

  • Adventure Design Kit
  • Against the Ogre Horde
  • Wizards of Morcar

Perhaps we'll see them announced next if licensing allows for it, or maybe we'll see them go in a new direction with brand new, never-before-seen quests.

The Mage of the Mirror will include a Quest Book featuring 10 quests, 33 finely detailed miniatures, and 35 game cards that will expand the game for both Zargon and the heroes. This expansion is expected to release in the Spring of 2023 and requires the HeroQuest Game System to play (sold separately).
